My Hormonal Rollercoaster! .. My Life Immediately Post Birth

Hello All,

Hope you’re well!

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while but wanted to ensure I was really in the mood and in the right zone to do so. It isn’t always easy reflecting back to tough times as even the thought of the past stirs back strong emotions. I wanted to talk about life immediately after Arjun’s birth and a glimpse of life today.

So as you know from my birth story (My Birth Story),things didn’t quite go to plan. By nature (incase you hadn’t noticed!) I’m quite an organised person, I like order, I like to know what’s going on and I like to have a plan. I was quite flexible (by my standards!) when it came to approaching labour as I knew my hypertension meant that things may not pan out how I wanted but I was optimistic nevertheless.

I had the nursery ready, my labour bag all packed, my last minute bits list all sorted and I felt really ready and prepared for it all. There was nothing more I could really have done at that point.

Fire, Food & Fun! … Sounds like Lohri!

Hello All!
I hope you’re keeping well and wrapping yourselves up warm in this cold weather!!
It feels like it’s been a while since I wrote a “proper” post!  I’m feeling super tired from this weekend’s shenanigans but wanted to put this together before my baby brain left me speechless!
So what exactly IS Lohri?! If you were to google “Lohri” (trust me, I’ve tried it!),  you’ll be given about a hundred different reasons as to why it’s celebrated.

Baby Brain Weekly Memoir: 16th January 2015

Evening All!!
Hope you’re all well!
This week has been such a crazy busy week and if I hadn’t jotted things down I probably would have forgotten what we’ve been up to!
We’ve been mainly preparing for Arjun’s first Lohri party (a separate post to follow on what this is and what we did!) which is taking place tomorrow. I’m so excited to host our first party since he’s arrived! Organising parties and get togethers is my forte and I’ve really missed doing it. I didn’t quite realise how challenging it would be with a baby! But I think we’ll be ok nevertheless! (I hope so anyway!!).
I’m currently sitting on the sofa with my feet up eating a cinnamon roll (I swear I’ve already burnt it off with the amount of running around I’ve done today!) whilst Arjun snoozes.

Baby Brain Weekly Memoir: 9th January 2015

Good afternoon all 🙂
Hope you, babies and bumps are all doing well!
So I thought it would be a nice idea for me to do a weekly post on what we’ve been up to during the week. Some weeks will seem a lot more interesting/heavier than others! I have such a severe case of baby brain that I’ve had to jot down what we’ve been up to in a notes page on my phone on a daily basis!
I’ve only just started writing this post and Arjun has just woken up, I’ve put him next to me in bed whilst I write this post and he’s lying on his belly (meant to be sleeping!). Every time I look at him, he smiles and so do his eyes.  He makes my heart melt.  It makes me want to cry 🙁 One day my baby boy is going to be an independent man who no longer dotes on his mummy!
Decided to take a break to enjoy that little moment!
Back to the post …
So here goes..!
This week we hosted a dinner for Preetam’s newly married sister Mane and her husband Jas and their family.  Arjun really enjoyed it as he loves socialising with big groups – probably because the whole room centres around him! Who doesn’t like a bit of attention!?  I’ve noticed he especially loves grandmas and Jas’ Maaji (grandma) is by no means an exception!  He absolutely adores her.

Boys and their Toys! … My Favourite Baby Boy Toys!

Hey all!

How are you all doing? We’ve had a really tiring day yesterday with lots of moans and groans from Arjun! 🙁 I always find the days we decide to stay at home (for some rest) are the hardest! He seems to enjoy doing things more than just chilling (definitely his dad’s boy!).

When he finally got to sleep I thought I’d catch up with some blogging around my favourite Christmas gifts for Arjun.

So for Christmas, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to get some cute baby toys for Arjun that related to his daddy’s favourite things (so really they were an excuse for Preetam to be able to play with Arjun’s toys!)!

Preetam is a keen motor biker (to my joy (!)) and is also pretty hands on when it comes to other bits too – e.g.  plumbing, car mechanics, electrics and computers! He’s a jack of all trades and I’m hoping Arjun will be super clever just like his daddy and will also share some of his interests! So I thought I’d get him some tools of the trade to start him off young in following in his daddy’s footsteps!

Baby Brain’s One Line a Day! … A Mum’s Journal

Hey All,
Hope you’re well!
I started this from the day Arjun was born.  “Mom’s One Line a Day” is a cool way to compare your child’s development over time and also as a collection of memories.  It’s in a diary format which allows a quick and easy way to capture the everyday moments of mummyhood especially with my severe case of baby brain!  With enough space to jot down a thought or a special event each day for five years, this keepsake will enable me to reflect back on what we did over the past year(s) and share it with Arjun too when he’s older.
I don’t always get the chance to physically write in the book, so I keep a note page in my phone and put key things down in there daily – be it a new development e.g. his first smile/laugh, meeting someone, visiting a new place or a bad night! I then play catch up and write up a few in the actual diary after a few days.

Guest Post: My Birth Story … Through the Eyes of a Birthing Partner

Hello all!
Firstly we wanted to wish you all a very happy new year! 2014 was definitely my fave! We celebrated by staying in with my sisters and a friend, watching movies and eating junk! Arjun had a late night and fell asleep on the bottle at 10pm haha.  How did you celebrate?
Upon reflecting on 2014, my sister offered to write a guest post for my blog.  I thought it was a beautiful idea and was really pleased she was up for it.

Half a Year Old Already! Arjun Turns 6 Months – An Update on his Milestones

Hello all,
Hope you’re well!
I can’t believe Arjun has turned six months already! Boxing Day marked his six month birthday. Time is just flying and he’s grown so much right before my eyes. It almost feels surreal. My tiny little baby has now grown in to a mini man … Ok not quite but he’s not far off!!
We celebrated his six month birthday with a “banana cake”! He loved it and didn’t hold back in demolishing it – proving to us that his baby led part of weaning is working!
